Frequently Asked Questions
Can our village use EVE completely for free without paying anything?
Yes, 100%. Under the Sovereign Root pathway, the software is free forever. The standalone automated self-installation package is coming soon. In the meantime, you can contact the EVE team for early access or choose guided installation.
What do the monthly fees for Cloud Seed actually cover?
The €15–€19/month contribution covers physical infrastructure: dedicated European green-energy cloud servers, automated daily encrypted off-site backups, instant security patches, and cross-village federation relay bandwidth.
Can we switch from Cloud Seed to self-hosting later?
Absolutely. EVE is built on open standards. At any point, your village council can download a full cryptographic export of all community data, consensus archives, and balance ledgers, then restore it onto local hardware with zero data loss.
What if our ecovillage or sanctuary cannot afford technical services?
Through the Sponsored Root pathway, qualifying indigenous projects, permaculture research sanctuaries, and cash-scarce collectives can apply for 100% subsidized installation and hardware care funded by the EVE Commons & ReFi Endowment.
