How do we value work in a sustainable community? For decades, global capitalism has dictated that worth is measured by scarcity and speculative market forces. But within a community, trust, ecological stewardship, and mutual aid are the true currencies.
To bridge this gap, EVE introduces the EVE Wallet and a sovereign community economy framework designed to reward stewardship, promote barter, and keep wealth circulating locally.
Why Local Currencies Matter
When a community uses external fiat currency (like the Euro or US Dollar), it becomes subject to macroeconomic volatility. Furthermore, standard money tends to leak out of the local community to national retail chains and corporate utilities.
A local community currency:
- Encourages Circular Wealth: Money spent in the village stays in the village, reinforcing local loops.
- Redefines Value: It allows communities to reward tasks that standard markets ignore—like composting, maintaining water sensors, or hosting community circles.
- Builds Social Capital: Every transaction becomes an exchange of gratitude and a reinforcing of relationships.
How EVE Wallet Works
The EVE Wallet is a built-in ledger that tracks internal community credits. It works via three core mechanics:
1. Transparent Mutual Credit
Rather than relying on fractional-reserve systems or speculative tokens, EVE Wallet acts as a mutual credit ledger. The community agrees on an aggregate credit limit, and members can trade credits directly for locally produced vegetables, craft goods, permaculture consulting, or childcare.
2. Pheromone Task Market & Guest Bounties
In many communities, some tasks are neglected because they are difficult or unglamorous. EVE uses a sociocracy-inspired "pheromone" model: tasks that remain uncompleted slowly increase in credit value over time, drawing voluntary stewards. For prospective residents or guests, the Guest Bounty model allows them to invest their labor in exchange for local credits, contributing directly to the community’s physical assets before completing their worldview alignment assessments.
3. Secure Hold & Capture RSVP
To support social events and workshops, the EVE Wallet features a secure hold and capture escrow mechanism. If a member RSVPs to a community dinner, credits are held, ensuring ingredients aren't wasted. Upon attendance, the hold is captured; if cancelled in time, it is released.
Keeping it Grounded
Our goal is not to create complex financial speculation, but to make cooperation easier. The EVE Wallet is a tool for mutual aid—helping communities map their talents to their immediate needs, completely independent of external financial distress.
By cultivating a healthy community economy, we build the sovereign foundations of a sustainable future.
